Tito Sotto Plagiarized a Blog Post

Well, the issue of plagiarism has been as issue to Senator Tito Sotto's  anti-RH speech that was copied from Sarah's blog, a US blogger. He denied copying it to "The Healthy Home Economist", insisting that both of them took it from  the same source, Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride. Oh well, whatever his lame excuses are, it just shows how ignorant  he is about plagiarism and blogging and most of all he hired incompetent staffs who doesn't know how to prepare an original speech for him.

This issue has come to Sarah's attention already and she made a blog post about it,  http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/on-plagiarism-the-pill-and-presumptuousness/. Sarah commented on his own post pertaining to the Senator "My blog was quoted, not Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride,  I put her works in my own words and you copied my words".

See the comparison between  the Senator's speech and Sarah's blog, The Healthy Home Economist

Sotto's speech

Actually, these contraceptives are not just detrimental to women and the unborn. They are scientifically proven to have damaging effects to children born from mothers who were using contraceptives prior to their pregnancy too. According, to Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride MD, the use of the pill also causes severe gut dysbiosis. What is worse, drug induced gut imbalance is especially intractable and resistant to treatment either with probiotics or diet change. 1 Gut imbalance brought on through use of the pill negatively impacts the ability to digest food and absorb nutrients. As a result, even if a woman eats spectacularly well during pregnancy, if she has been taking oral contraceptives for a period of time beforehand, it is highly likely that she and her baby are not reaping the full benefits of all this healthy food as the lack of beneficial flora in her gut preclude this from occurring. 2 Pathogenic, opportunistic flora that take hold in the gut when the pill is used constantly produce toxic substances which are the by-products of their metabolism. These toxins leak into the woman’s bloodstream and they have the potential to cross the placenta. Therefore, gut dysbiosis exposes the fetus to toxins. 3Not well known is also the fact that use of the pill depletes zinc in the body. Zinc is called “the intelligence mineral” as it is intimately involved in mental development.

  1. i went to the link you shared on sarah's response and I see where she is coming from. usually, scientific paper is harder to understand with more scientific terms, when we share them, we put them into our words, just like what sarah explained. if they (tito sotto and srah) may have taken the information from the same source, it is hard to imagine having the same rewording to make it clearer for general public to understand. what is even harder is what sotto said, " blogger lang sya"- somehow, i am a blogger too, and i feel offended with the way he puts down bloggers. we are professionals too.

  2. tsk, tsk to tito sen. Very disappointing.

  3. And I hope he didn't really said those lines: 'Bakit ko naman iqu-quote ang blogger, blogger lang iyon'!

If he really did say it, that is outrageous and has no respect towards bloggers, famous or not!

  4. The moment he said those very words blogosphere is shaken - most are disappointed while others look at the positive side of things. Well at least bloggers are becoming an "in" thing right now that everybody should love and respect.I hope everybody learned from our senator's mistake.

  5. I don't have anything nice to say about Tito Sotto. What he said is demoralizing to us bloggers. Obviously, he doesn't know what he's talking about, or who he's up against. This kind of ignorance is simply unacceptable.

  6. he wasn't man enough to accept mistakes, wait what else did he do in the senate

  9. Talk about sacrificing credibility just to impress an audience. The senator's writer is a lawyer and he does not have the idea of the thing called "para-phrasing" or perhaps summary?

  10. tsk tsk tsk... kakahiya nman... grave ang daming kinopya ni tito sotto..hahaha kakahiya ka sen..!!

  11. Stop pretending and move on,
